Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) has announced the pioneer group of approved sponsors comprising 10 Full Sponsors and 6 Continuing Sponsors. A total of 72 Registered Professionals from the sponsors was also approved. The sponsors are approved based on strict entry criteria with focus on the reputation and work record of the firm, and their registered professionals.

With this announcement, the transition period for Catalist Non-Sponsored companies which are under the previous SESDAQ rules will commence. These companies will have at least 2 years (transition period) to engage a sponsor and adopt the Catalist rules. A review of the final deadline for the transition will be made and announced in the first half of 2009.
With effect from 5 February 2008, Catalist opens its doors to new listings under the Catalist rules.
